Biodynamic Farming

Our Biodynamic-in-conversion vegetable garden, first started as an organic garden by our German volunteers in 2011, is run in close collaboration with the Biodynamic Association of South Africa. The 5ha farm plot provides ample space to grow vegetables, herbs and fruit. We place great emphasis on the therapeutic value of youth being able to connect with nature through working in the vegetable gardens, thereby creating a conscious attitude towards nature and taking responsibility for their surroundings. Not only can the vegetable garden help towards greater sustainability of the project, but it can also provide an opportunity for some youth to participate in apprenticeships of Biodynamic farming after completion of their secondary education. Our plans are to incorporate bees livestock and poultry in order to grow the entire farm into a Biodynamic organism.
